I’ve always loved food. Even as a kid, I knew it was more than just fuel—it was joy, comfort, and connection. I used to carry a little purse full of toy food everywhere I went, convinced it could curb my hunger if I just looked at it (note: don’t eat plastic).

I’m a Japanese-American who grew up between Europe and the U.S., and I believe the best way to understand a culture is through its people and its food—ideally, both around the same table.
